There are many approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, such as psychodynamic, behavioural and person-centred. Counselling may be seen as short term support, whereas psychotherapy may dig a little deeper and be longer term. I offer both. I have a person-centred approach to my practice and work as an integrative counsellor and therapist. But what does that mean?
Put simply, as a person-centred practitioner, I believe you know yourself best. By observing and understanding your concerns, I can work with you to explore and work through whatever is on your mind and find a better path ahead. I believe this approach helps people feel more empowered and can lead to profound change.
I trained as an integrative counsellor. This means I draw on various skills in psychodynamic, behaviourist or person-centred approaches, depending on what works best for you. Each client’s needs are as individual as a fingerprint and, therefore, it is important that I work alongside you to understand your issues, needs and, if appropriate, your goals. I am a big advocate of walking and eco-therapy as many clients find getting out in the natural world an enormous benefit.
Whatever the approach, I am there to help you explore, reflect and better understand what’s going on for you, how you can navigate life's journey and, if necessary, change its course. I work in a way that best suits you. It may be that you just need a safe and quiet space to unpack and explore feelings that are troubling you. It may be that you want to make a change or challenge your way of thinking to be the best version of yourself. Either way, I offer a secure, non-judgemental and compassionate space for us to work together.
